About Advanced Robotics
For years, we have taught advanced robotics, often partnering with FIRST Robotics in Michigan to help train and support teams throughout the state and partner with local school districts to offer professional development for teachers and mentors. During the pandemic, there has been a significant shift in the advanced robotics offerings for students. We are creating a new curriculum to align with important technology advances in this area. We will keep you updated as these courses become available either in person or virtually.
SPRING 2021 UPDATE: We are currently not offering Advanced Robotics virtual or in-person classes until the fall. If you are interested in 1-week long in-person Summer Camps for this age group, learn more here.
Check out the FIRST Robotics World Championship in Detroit in 2019. The Robot Garage has worked closely with First in Michigan over the past years to help train 200+ High School rookie teams. Our programs align with younger FIRST competitions, as well as new national science standards (NGSS) to nurture a love and understanding of robotics, and develop the mechanical and coding skills students will need to succeed in our increasingly technological world.
Our in-person classes are about to get even better! Available to students in the Detroit, Michigan area, these hour-long classes will now allow you to purchase the starter kit, and take home all the LEGO® in your projects!
3 classes per month ~75-minute classes
In-person classes will resume in September 2021
Multiple Ways to Learn!
Many students thrive with the help of a teacher. Our teachers are fun, exciting, and love interacting with students and family members! Live virtual classes provide personal interaction, encouragement, and develop social skills in addition to hands-on guidance. Our classes keep a strict 6 to 1 or 8 to 1 student-teacher ratio.
Virtual classes will resume in September 2021
Over our many years of teaching, we have learned that all children learn differently. As a result, we created multiple formats for our classes that we offer throughout the year.
Virtual Class Requirements (Zoom)
One device with a camera (MacBook, Chromebook, Windows Computer, Tablet, etc.)
Zoom account with the student's name attached
Parent available for the beginning of class, and keeping an eye on things throughout the class
What Our Students Are Saying
"The most valuable part of this workshop was the time given to programming a robot. I’ve been on a team for a year and nobody ever taught me how easy this could be."
